What I saw in this movie this time is in fact the great yearning of mankind - to love and be loved. Who doesn't want to be loved and to love freely, without calculating the cost and effect of true and deep love? Who wouldn't want to embrace love when it comes knocking at your door? There are people who choose not to love for the fear of abandonment, rejection and a haunting past. What about you?
In the bible, St. Paul wrote about the Gift of Love in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
The first three words of 1 Corinthians 13:8 is LOVE NEVER ENDS.
David (the AI boy) persevered till he finally met the Blue Fairy and made his request after being frozen in the ice for 2000 years. His love for Monica never ends. We may not have 2000 years to live, neither are we able to wait for 2000 years to make the request, but we can choose to live by faith in love with Jesus as our Saviour right now, at this moment. Though it is never easy to live out the love St. Paul wrote about, we can always try. Jesus is our very core example of real love, and out of His love for us, He died on the cross for us. So why can't we, for once, try to love and take the risk of being loved too? Indeed, He has given us a never-ending love, so we must also love unceasingly, even when things becomes harsh and difficult and dark. Remember, love bears, believes, hopes and endures all things.
May the year 2010 be the year of true love revealed in all our lives. God bless!
